Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) manufacturing and engineering experts from faculty and partner industries are on site to help you get started. Our experts combine real world experience at leading companies with strong educational backgrounds to help you navigate the FAB LAB.

Amy

Amy Pietsch

As Director of the Venture Center, Amy is focused on creating training and development programs that focus on business innovation and entrepreneurial ventures. Since 1997 she has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs launch and grow their ventures in Wisconsin and beyond. Her technical entrepreneurial training taps on her experience with conducting feasibility studies, developing business plans and securing debt and equity financing for their ventures. The Appleton Post Crescent’s recent 50th Annual Report recognized and profiled Amy as being On the Rise and one of the people who is powering the Fox Cities’ progress.

Mike Cattelino
- Associate Dean-Manufacturing, Information, and Agriculture Technologies Division

Before being appointed associate dean, Mike was a machine tool instructor at FVTC and worked as a journeyman machinist in the Fox Valley. Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Career Technical Education and Training from the University of Wisconsin—Stout and completed his machinist’s training at FVTC.

Terry Fleischman
- Department Chair – Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, and Computer Control Engineering Technology

Since 1987, Terry has been an instructor at FVTC coming to us from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He is he primary electronics instructor at the College and is responsible for all electrial and electronics-based programs. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering Madison University, Gulfport, Mississippi; a masters of science in Physics with and Emphasis in Computer Interfacing and Instrumentation from the University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh, a bachelor’s of science in Electronic Engineering Technology from Southwest State University and associates degrees in Electromechanical Technology and Electronic Technology.

Jim Janisse
- Development Manager & Consultant Fox Valley Technical College

Jim provides FAB LAB users two decades of experience in global consulting that encompassed process re-engineering, computer integrated manufacturing processes, business analysis and e-business solutions. While holding positions in management and consulting at IBM, Jim was an early adapter of integrating business systems into an online environment. After a 20 year career with IBM, Jim moved into education as a business and industry instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout as well as a development manager and consultant at FVTC.

Dean Sommerfeld
- Instructor & Team Leader – Mechanical Design Technician

Since 2001, Dean has been a Mechanical Design Instructor at FVTC where he teaches upper level design and analysis courses and is the department’s team leader. He holds 13 patents from his career in private industry where he was a product design engineer at several companies in the Midwest and is a registered professional engineer. Dean holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin—Madison and is working on his masters degree.
